“My job as a Data Scientist is to be the primary catalyst behind digital transformation,” Nagesh said. “Companies are sitting on a treasure trove of data that can only improve how they operate. My job is to apply analysis to this data and produce insights that are not available just by looking at the information. These insights help optimize how companies are delivering their existing solutions while identifying new opportunities.”
It was an easy decision for Nagesh to continue his career with PS after his internship. Here are the three reasons he enjoys being a Data Scientist at PS:
1. Exposure to a wide variety of projects and industries
Before starting as a full-time team member, Nagesh had already been exposed to different projects and verticals within PS during his internship. It was through this exposure that Nagesh found Data Science. As a Data Scientist, Nagesh continues to explore multiple roles within this field through the rotational nature of the work.
“One month I might be working on a machine learning projected related to named entity recognition, and the next month I could be involved in data harmonization or proposing data assessment methods for certain use cases, or I could be involved in building advanced analytics dashboards.”
2. There’s always something new to learn
Training is not an onboarding or occasional activity here. We understand the importance of personal and professional growth, and we have built training and development resources into the ongoing work experience of our teams. The training sessions and certifications are aligned with the development goals and projects that the individual would like to be or is already a part of.
“When I worked on a project related to the energy vertical, I had to work on creating a pipeline in Azure. Once this was complete, I started getting more involved in cloud-related activities, which required me to take some trainings and educate myself on cloud technology. PS provided me with opportunities to complete trainings and get Azure and Google Cloud Platform certifications, which also helped expand my area of work.”
Another way Nagesh has found development opportunities is through the rotational structure of his team.
