Manager Azure Data Engineer – Data Factory / Synapse / Databricks

As a Manager – Azure Data Engineering, you will lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable data solutions on Azure Cloud, with a strong focus on technical leadership, mentorship, and best practice enforcement.
You will ensure architectural integrity, performance, and delivery quality, while guiding your team through complex client engagements and ensuring alignment with project goals and standards.

Your Impact

• Provide technical leadership and direction across multiple Azure-based data engineering projects.

• Lead and mentor data engineering teams, fostering a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and collaboration.

• Stay hands-on to review design and code, ensuring adherence to development standards, performance optimization, and best practices.

• Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes using Azure Data Factory and Databricks (PySpark).

• Architect and optimize data lake and data warehouse solutions leveraging Delta Lake and Synapse Analytics (serverless).

• Define and maintain data architecture frameworks to ensure scalability, security, and maintainability.

• Drive problem-solving to remove technical and operational barriers throughout the lifecycle of client engagements.

• Ensure all deliverables are of high quality by setting clear development standards, enforcing adherence, and participating in code reviews.

• Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, data scientists, and architects to translate business requirements into scalable, production-ready data solutions.

• Oversee and optimize CI/CD, monitoring, and automation practices across teams.

• Stay updated with emerging Azure ecosystem trends and continuously drive innovation and improvement across delivery teams.

Skills & Experience

• 9+ years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing, and analytics.

• Proven track record providing technical direction and mentorship to data engineering teams.

• Strong hands-on expertise with Azure Data Factory, Databricks (PySpark), and Delta Lake.

• Solid experience with Synapse Analytics (serverless) for data querying, serving, and optimization.

• In-depth understanding of data architecture, schema design, governance, and performance tuning in cloud environments.

• Experience defining and enforcing coding standards, conducting code reviews, and driving engineering quality.

• Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, version control, and infrastructure automation.

• Advanced SQL and experience with both relational and non-relational databases.

• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to remove delivery barriers and ensure client success.

• Strategic mindset with the ability to balance hands-on technical involvement and high-level leadership responsibilities.

• Experience integrating Databricks with other Azure services (Event Hub, Data Lake Storage, Logic Apps).

• Familiarity with Delta Live Tables, data reliability, and observability frameworks.

• Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203) or Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
