Senior Cloud Data Platform DevOps Engineer (AWS)

We are seeking a Senior Cloud Data Platform DevOps Engineer (AWS) to join our Platform Engineering team. This role bridges the worlds of database engineering and DevOps, enabling scalable, automated, and standardized database solutions across the organization. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in AWS database services, strong automation and CI/CD skills, and the ability to mentor and transfer knowledge within a collaborative engineering environment.

Your Impact

• Design, integrate, and automate database creation, operations, and management for both relational and non-relational databases as part of standard application patterns.

• Work with AWS database solutions including Amazon RDS (Postgres), NoSQL, and Redshift.

• Incorporate database management tools (DBMaestro preferred) into CI/CD pipelines (Github Actions preferred).

• Enable out-of-the-box configurability leveraging service catalog tools such as ServiceNow or Backstage.

• Automate configuration and management of database tools as part of service catalog item creation, onboarding teams to adopt these processes.

• Provide knowledge transfer and mentorship to the Platform Engineering team, ensuring long-term sustainability of standards and best practices.

• Contribute strategically to the team’s approach for database automation and management.

Your Skills and Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with AWS database solutions: RDS (Postgres), NoSQL, and Redshift.

• Proven expertise in database creation, configuration, and operations in cloud environments.

• Experience integrating database management tools (DBMaestro or equivalent) into CI/CD pipelines.

• Practical knowledge of CI/CD pipelines with tools such as Github Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI/CD.

• Familiarity with service catalog tools (ServiceNow, Backstage, or similar) for provisioning and automation.

• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve complex issues independently.

• Developed communication skills to clearly exchange technical concepts with diverse stakeholders.

• Experience mentoring junior engineers and fostering knowledge-sharing.
