Senior Manager, Cloud & DevOps Engineering 

 

As a Senior Manager, Cloud & DevOps Engineering, you lead the engineering side of our clients digital business transformations, with cloud, security, observability and DevOps as the key enablers. You blend hands-on depth with consulting and advisory skill, shaping cloud and platform strategies for clients and leading the squads that bring them to life. You will help transform how leading Australian organisations build, run and scale their software. 

 

Your Impact 

  • Partner with clients to turn complex ideas into end-to-end cloud and platform solutions that transform their business. 
  • Lead the engineering side of digital transformations across single and multi-cloud, with security, observability and DevOps as core enablers. 
  • Design and maintain highly scalable, secure and reliable cloud infrastructure, optimised for performance and cost and compliant with security standards. 
  • Work in consulting and advisory roles, engaging business and technical stakeholders to shape cloud, platform and DevOps strategies. 
  • Run cloud readiness assessments, architecture reviews and cost optimisation and FinOps initiatives for clients. 
  • Build and champion internal developer platforms and platform engineering practices that lift delivery velocity across teams. 
  • Embed DevSecOps, integrating security and policy as code into the delivery lifecycle. 
  • Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot and Claude Code to improve productivity and delivery quality. 
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to cloud and DevOps engineers. 

Skills & Experience 

  • 12+ years of hands-on experience in cloud and DevOps, with recent experience leading engineers and engaging clients. 
  • Deep expertise in at least one major cloud (must have): across compute, identity, networking, storage, serverless, database, Kubernetes, messaging and operations tooling. 
  • AWS, for example EC2, IAM, VPC, S3, Lambda, RDS, SNS and CloudWatch. 
  • GCP, for example Compute, IAM, VPC, Cloud Storage, serverless, database, GKE, Pub/Sub and Operations Suite. 
  • Azure, for example Virtual Machines, Entra ID, Virtual Network, Blob Storage, Functions, database, Service Bus and Azure Monitor. 
  • Proven experience designing and maintaining infrastructure as code, preferably Terraform, or CloudFormation, ARM templates, Deployment Manager 
  • Container platforms: designing, implementing and upgrading managed and self-hosted Kubernetes (EKS, GKE, AKS or on-prem), Helm-based deployments, and service mesh for traffic management such as Istio. 
  • CI/CD: building and maintaining delivery pipelines with tools such as Git, Jenkins, GitLab or CircleCI, with automated build, test and deployment, quality gates and vulnerability scanning. 
  • DevSecOps: integrating security into the delivery lifecycle, including policy as code, security automation and artefact management. 
  • Observability: designing monitoring, logging, tracing and alerting using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, the Elastic Stack, OpenTelemetry, Datadog or Dynatrace. 
  • Configuration and monitoring of DNS, application servers, load balancers and firewalls for high-volume traffic. 
  • Hands-on experience with cloud readiness assessments, cost optimisation and FinOps practices. 
  • Consulting mindset with strong communication and stakeholder management skills. 

Set Yourself Apart With 

  • Public cloud certifications, associate level or above. 
  • Terraform certification. 
  • Experience building internal developer platforms as part of a platform engineering function. 
  • Exposure to regulated industries such as financial services, payments or health.
