Job Description

Role Overview:

You will lead a team and create technology products that help people have the best healthcare experience they have ever had. We are looking for a leader with a strong passion for both technology and people, who is motivated to build outstanding products.
The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise across multiple technologies, a strong track record of delivery, and proven experience in building and leading high‑performance engineering teams.

 

Responsibilities:
  • Lead, coach, and support a team of Software Engineers in the development, delivery, and maintenance of technology products.
  • Partner closely with Product Management to define the long‑term strategy for the team and translate it into clear, achievable goals.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the overall software ecosystem, ensuring architectural components work effectively together and defining engineering and testing approaches aligned with the broader strategy.
  • Drive effective decision‑making, proactively remove blockers, and ensure steady team progress by organizing work, prioritizing initiatives, and setting appropriate milestones.
  • Provide regular updates to the team and to leadership on progress, risks, and outcomes.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with engineering, product, design, data, and other stakeholders to align on key strategic and technical decisions.
  • Proactively identify and escalate delivery or technical issues in a timely manner to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement through mentoring, feedback, metrics, and best engineering practices.
  • Empower engineers to deliver high‑quality solutions by creating space for testing, automation, observability, documentation, and technical excellence.
  • Partner with senior engineers to lead technical initiatives that continuously raise the bar for engineering standards and practices.
  • Ensure the team remains aligned with objectives and delivers against both short‑term priorities and long‑term goals.
  • Establish effective systems for managing work and maintaining a healthy, predictable delivery cadence.
  • Encourage innovation and continuous improvement by welcoming new ideas and exploring better ways of achieving objectives.
  • Collaborate with the wider engineering organization to contribute to company‑wide delivery, managerial, and technical standards and best practices.
Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
  • 7+ years of experience as a software engineer across a range of technologies, ideally including Java and JavaScript, with experience building distributed systems.
  • 2+ years of experience in leading and developing high‑performing teams working on complex systems.
  • Strong experience in designing software architectures focused on scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Proven experience building products from concept through prototype and full implementation.
  • Experience developing and operating cloud‑based software services.
  • Solid foundation in computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, problem solving, and complexity analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience working with agile delivery methodologies.
  • Proven ability to recruit, manage, coach, and develop Software Engineers, helping them grow and improve their effectiveness.
  • Strong communication skills, with experience engaging with users, cross‑functional teams, and senior leadership to discuss outcomes, product features, technical designs, and product strategy.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a complex organization and remain resilient during periods of change and transformation.
  • Curious, adaptable, and flexible mindset, with a strong desire to learn and embrace new challenges.
