Data Product Owner

Tremend is looking for a Data Product Owner who will own the functional data layer between source systems and the Databricks lakehouse, clarifying what data is needed, why, how it’s structured, and how it should land so engineering teams can build reliable pipelines.

Responsibilities

1) Source-system analysis & scoping
  •  Deep-dive Openlink, Orchestrade, and bespoke platforms to map entities, events, and relationships.
  •  Identify authoritative sources, data owners, and system constraints.
  •  Document business meaning, not just fields.

2) Data requirements & prioritization
  •  Translate business use-cases into clear ingestion requirements.
  •  Define datasets, grain, history needs, latency, and refresh patterns.
  •  Build and maintain the ingestion backlog with value-based prioritization.

3) Data quality & governance
  •  Specify data quality rules, reconciliations, and control totals.
  •  Define critical fields, nullability, lineage, and audit requirements.
  •  Partner with data governance on ownership, access, and compliance.

4) Delivery enablement
  •  Produce functional specs, source-to-target mappings, and transformation logic.
  •  Support engineers during build; validate outputs against business expectations.
  •  Act as the primary bridge between business, quants/ops, and data engineering.

Key deliverables
  •  Source system maps and entity relationship views
  •  Ingestion requirement documents and prioritized roadmap
  •  Source-to-target mappings into Databricks (bronze/silver/gold intent)
  •  Business glossary and data definitions
  •  Data quality rules and acceptance criteria
