Senior Director of Engineering � Consumer Products & Retail
Job Description
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineering leader who is looking for significant professional growth at an organisation with an award-winning culture for creativity, client impact and openness. Your role will carry a core focus on defining and delivering architectural solutions, structuring technology and engineering teams and managing large-scale technical delivery. You will also be responsible for thought leadership, driving the adoption of modern architecture and technology trends such as headless, microservices, cloud, DevOps and innovative engineering transformation at scale. Along with driving best fit solutions for our clients, you will also work closely with business development leads, client partners and programme delivery managers to realise new business opportunities and help grow client accounts.
Qualifications
Your Skills and Experience:
- A strong track record in consulting organisations with proven experience of interfacing with and advising at exec board or senior leadership level - CTO, CIO
- Experience in defining technology strategies for clients, with a focus on modern architectures (layered, headless, micro-services based, Big Data platforms. cloud-hosted)
- Technical management and delivery experience of globally distributed engineering teams of up to 100 people or more
- Strong presentation, client pitching skills and Agile Delivery experience
- Understanding of key Retail / Consumer Products business areas such as:
- Online selling (web shop, mobile app, online payments, etc.)
- Direct-to-Consumer & Marketplaces
- Merchandising
- Omnichannel logistics (home delivery, click & collect, returns, etc.)
- In-store (POS systems, clientelling, etc.)
- A proven track record of delivering enterprise scale engineering transformation projects using contemporary technologies and methodologies such as:
- Digital Customer Experience platforms
- E-Commerce platforms
- CMS, Search, PIM, DAM, OMS
- Data technologies across streaming and batch-oriented realms
- Analytics, ML and Activation tools
- Java, JavaScript and CSS, Typescript for large scale website development
- DevSecOps/Automation (CI/CD) for large scale delivery
- Architecture and design knowledge of Headless approaches, API gateways, Microservices, iPaaS / ETL, Databases, and Big Data platforms
- Cloud platform architectures (Azure, GCP, AWS)
- Salesforce technology such as Commerce Cloud, Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Mulesoft, Heroku, etc.
- Quality Engineering

- Product Lifecycle management
- Online marketing and selling (B2B, B2C)
- Content and digital asset management
- Supply chain (Order Management, B2B logistics, D2C logistics, returns, etc.)
