Publicis Sapient - The Place for Engineering & Tech Trailblazers

Vandana shares what brough her to PS, what her day to day looks like as an Engineering Leader, and why women in tech should start or grow their career here.

When I was looking for a new job in 2019, my aspiration was to move to the United Kingdom and work for an organization that had deep technical chops braided on strong culture and vision.

I’d spent about a decade working for a Bank’s IT department where I was fortunate enough to work directly with a financial services business and co-create solutions which enabled them to grow digitally. I wanted to work for a company that respected innovation, design-thinking and modern engineering to accelerate the next generation of solutions and, in the process, build world-class fin-tech.

These last two years at PS have felt like flight to my imagination as I see my work through three clear values:

  • Doing the right thing does not always mean doing the thing right. Our teams work with honesty and bravery to help our clients think beyond the ordinary.

  •  Experimentation is key to innovation. Imbibing Test and Learn in your solution with moderation can steadfast clients on their Transformation Journeys.

  • Value is the currency of our business. We measure value and use it to frame what we do now and next.

My day to day is far from boring

As a Director of Technology, there are two dimensions of my role – Technology Consulting and Delivery. A part of my job includes helping clients shape their transformation roadmap by identifying the engineering opportunities that will make material difference. This involves taking them through the journey of value streams in their business, identifying leading and lagging indicators and mapping them to the interventions supported by a business case. This exercise is generally data-driven and helps build their technology maturity radars.

Another aspect of my role is delivery of the programs where as an architect my role is to drive the solution with a design-thinking approach, help teams move in the right direction, and build reusable assets in the process.

"PS is a great place to work for the technology trailblazers and if you have a spark, there is huge support for innovation. The company has a massive talent pool of polyglot and full stack engineers and has a very firm selection criterion."

Driving business value for clients through our collaborative approach

On the Engineering team at PS, we deliver value to clients through partnerships with some of the sharpest minds in Customer Experience, Consulting, and Business Transformation. We collaborate to create and deliver highly credible solutions that meet customer needs in a commercially impactful way.

On a recent client project, my team worked with the digital strategy department of a bank to carve their vision and roadmap of an engagement platform. The challenge was to consolidate over 100 legacy apps and build a single platform across multiple channels including Web, Mobile, ATMs etc. We ran focus group discussions across business areas and worked to align the roadmaps of multiple in-flight programs across the board and introduced a “platform-led” approach centred around capabilities. The exercise helped break the siloes and bridge many synergies across the board. We helped link the data strategy to the digital strategy which was a huge win. We then outlined the key propositions and capabilities they could put in place to capitalize on this strategy.

These recommendations were approved by the C-Suite, unlocking significant new digital investment and activity - and we’re now scoping how best to support them in their digital transformation.

Why PS is a great place for Engineers

PS is a great place to work for the technology trailblazers and if you have a spark, there is huge support for innovation. The company has a massive talent pool of polyglot and full stack engineers and has a very firm selection criterion. PS is also investing big time in diversity and is consciously supporting women to grow into leadership positions. There are focused sponsorship programs to help women in technology to grow despite personal circumstances and the best part is it is working to build male allies advocating a culture of diverse thinking.
